SCORING GUIDE
PROCESS
Over the years, Classroom Mini-Grant readers have told us that they
find it easiest to first scan all their applications to get a frame of
reference. It is easier then to read and individually score each
application.
EVALUATION
As you review each application, please consider the following
criteria, then provide a final score from 0-10, 10 being the
strongest application, 0 the weakest. You may use decimal
points. As you read each section of the application, you may find it
helpful in the final scoring to ask yourself the following
questions:
CRITERIA
Project Summary
- Does the project summary clearly identify:
- who the project will reach,
- what the project is,
- how the project will help students and/or what it will allow them
to accomplish?
Student Need
- Is the student need clearly identified?
Activities
- Does the project describe at least two (2) hands-on activites
for students?
Goals
- Do the goals listed focus on expected student gains in academic
performance, learning efficiency, student product and/or motivational
goals?
- Are the project goals measurable?
Evaluation Method
- Is the element being evaluated (i.e. student achievement, student
behavior) clearly identified?
- Does the project determine a baseline for measurement?
- Is the measurement tool/criteria clearly identified?
Plan
- Can the project realistically be accomplished in one school
year?
- Is a timeline provided?
Budget
- Are the items referenced and the corresponding amounts
appropriate?
- If the project will require additional funding, are the sources
provided?
- Is the budget realistic?
In Summary...
- Does the project address the identified need?
- Can the goals be achieved in the amount of time and with the budget
stated?
- Is the project creative and include at least two (2) hands-on
activities for students?
- Does the project bring the curriculum to life?
