Estos puntos de vista y opiniones no representan necesariamente los de Impact on Education.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reflexionando sobre el cierre de la escuela secundaria Centaurus<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Por James Clemson<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El mi\u00e9rcoles 3 de marzo de 2021, justo antes de las 10 a.m., la escuela secundaria Centaurus se cerr\u00f3 despu\u00e9s de que un maestro creyera que escuch\u00f3 disparos dentro de la escuela. La escuela estaba en <a href=\"https:\/\/www.9news.com\/article\/news\/education\/centaurus-high-school-lafayette-lockdown\/73-12a84e63-f04e-452b-8dfb-db6de62473b7\">bloqueo durante aproximadamente 3 horas<\/a> mientras la polic\u00eda registraba el edificio antes, afortunadamente, se declar\u00f3 una falsa alarma. Posteriormente, Centaurus volvi\u00f3 a sus operaciones normales.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La r\u00e1pida respuesta de varios departamentos de polic\u00eda demostr\u00f3 la buena planificaci\u00f3n de BVSD y la dedicaci\u00f3n de nuestra polic\u00eda local para mantener seguros a los ni\u00f1os. Sin embargo, las secuelas emocionales de tal evento resaltan algunas \u00e1reas de mejora.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Perspectiva de un estudiante<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Como estudiante de Centaurus, tengo amigos y familiares que estaban en el edificio en el momento del cierre, aunque afortunadamente estaba aprendiendo de forma remota en ese momento.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Una estudiante de noveno grado que conozco estaba afuera del edificio, estudiando con amigos, cuando lleg\u00f3 el informe. Su primera impresi\u00f3n de que algo andaba muy mal fue cuando una mujer polic\u00eda se detuvo con una pistola grande y habl\u00f3 con un miembro del personal afuera. Luego, el miembro del personal les grit\u00f3 a los estudiantes que &quot;\u00a1CORRER!&quot; Ella y sus amigos corrieron a una gasolinera cercana, sin saber a d\u00f3nde ir ni qu\u00e9 estaba pasando. Admiti\u00f3 que era principalmente adrenalina lo que la manten\u00eda en movimiento y la sensaci\u00f3n de que las decisiones que tomaba pod\u00edan ser de vida o muerte. Al llegar a la casa de un amigo, se acercaron a familiares y compa\u00f1eros en el edificio y, en el transcurso de una hora y media, comenzaron a enterarse de lo que hab\u00eda estado sucediendo en la escuela.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despu\u00e9s de que Centaurus anunci\u00f3 que regresar\u00edan a sus actividades normales, esta estudiante y sus amigos regresaron, comprensiblemente todav\u00eda angustiados. Las clases estaban medio vac\u00edas, y en las que quedaron, profesores y alumnos no hablaron de los hechos de la ma\u00f1ana. Dijo que se sent\u00eda como una especie de negaci\u00f3n grupal. Conmocionada personalmente, sinti\u00f3 la necesidad de superar sus sentimientos antes de poder regresar a sus clases. Aunque se hab\u00edan puesto a disposici\u00f3n consejeros de trauma, la informaci\u00f3n sobre cu\u00e1ndo y d\u00f3nde buscar estos recursos era escasa, y los anuncios de que estaba bien dejar la escuela si era necesario llegaron tarde. En general, este estudiante sinti\u00f3 que el apoyo emocional y de trauma de Centaurus fue &quot;demasiado poco y demasiado tarde&quot;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Mejor orientaci\u00f3n<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>En una \u00e9poca en la que los tiroteos escolares son una posibilidad demasiado com\u00fan, y especialmente a la luz del reciente tiroteo masivo en King Soopers en Boulder, es importante tener un plan. Los eventos del 3 de marzo demostraron la fortaleza del procedimiento de cierre de BVSD, pero tambi\u00e9n dejaron en claro algunas debilidades, y es importante aprender de esta experiencia para que los estudiantes se sientan lo m\u00e1s seguros posible en sus escuelas.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Como se\u00f1al\u00f3 esta estudiante de noveno grado, ella habr\u00eda sabido qu\u00e9 hacer, si estuviera en el aula, gracias a numerosos simulacros. Pero afuera, con su \u00fanica direcci\u00f3n siendo &quot;CORRER&quot;, se qued\u00f3 en gran parte por su cuenta para tomar decisiones que podr\u00edan haber significado vida o muerte. Una mejor orientaci\u00f3n sobre los espacios seguros cerca de una escuela y c\u00f3mo llegar a ellos habr\u00eda sido de gran ayuda, seg\u00fan este estudiante. Adem\u00e1s, el evento real no es todo el problema.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Soporte emocional<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Las consecuencias emocionales requieren una mejor orientaci\u00f3n y comunicaci\u00f3n de la escuela. BVSD tiene muchos recursos excepcionales de salud mental, como distrito y a trav\u00e9s de asociaciones con la comunidad. M\u00e1s all\u00e1 de los consejeros escolares, que forman la columna vertebral de los sistemas de apoyo estudiantil de BVSD, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bvsd.org\/parents-students\/student-help\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">asociaciones comunitarias<\/a> con Mental Health Walk in Crisis Clinc, Colorado Crisis Services, Community Reach Center, National Suicide Prevention Lifeline y Mental Health Partners tienen la intenci\u00f3n de brindar <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bvsd.org\/parents-students\/student-help\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">servicios de salud mental necesarios<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Si bien estos son importantes e impactantes, tambi\u00e9n es vital que la informaci\u00f3n sobre c\u00f3mo acceder a ellos, as\u00ed como a los consejeros escolares m\u00e1s tradicionales, est\u00e9 disponible para que los estudiantes puedan encontrar f\u00e1cilmente el apoyo que necesitan. Esto debe hacerse de manera clara y directa, ya sea a trav\u00e9s del sistema de megafon\u00eda, los maestros o cualquier otro m\u00e9todo que se considere m\u00e1s efectivo para llegar a los estudiantes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eventos como estos no pueden ignorarse; deben ser reconocidos. Incluso si fue una falsa alarma, las experiencias y emociones de los involucrados son muy, muy reales y deben abordarse como tales. Espero que BVSD tome los eventos del 3 de marzo como una oportunidad para reflexionar y mejorar y hacer que la escuela sea m\u00e1s segura y m\u00e1s solidaria para todos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:33.33%\">\n<p><em>James Clemson es un estudiante de tercer a\u00f1o en Centaurus High School, donde juega para el equipo de f\u00fatbol JV de la escuela.
