Impact on Education Introduces Two New Scholarships to Support Boulder Valley Students, Announces Open Applications for Class of 2024

Louisville, Colorado (February 29, 2024) – In its ongoing commitment to provide educational opportunities for students in the Boulder Valley School District (BVSD), Impact on Education (IOE) announces two new scholarships for the Class of 2024: the Houston Scholarship and the Jeff Howenstein Panther Scholarship. These additions highlight IOE’s dedication to removing barriers to higher education, ensuring students from all backgrounds have the support they need to access post-secondary education.

“We’re committed to making a difference in the lives of BVSD students, helping them to overcome financial hurdles and pursue their dreams,”  says Allison Billings, Executive Director of Impact on Education. “These scholarships not only honor the legacy of their namesakes but also the potential of every student within our District.”

The $10,000 Houston Scholarship honors a community member whose dedication to taking care of their family financially meant they were unable to pursue their dream of formal education. The family believes higher education can be the key to unlocking opportunity and hopes the scholarship will allow selected students to overcome financial barriers to their educational goals. The scholarship is tailored for BVSD graduates who demonstrate financial need and academic potential. And since the $10,000 Houston Scholarship is renewable, winners can receive a total of $40,000 over their four years of college.

The Jeff Howenstein Panther Scholarship honors the legacy of a beloved Boulder High School teacher, supporting Boulder High AVID program graduates with a $1,000 scholarship that is renewable for up to four years. Both of these new scholarships embody the spirit of community and the belief in the transformative power of education.

“We are proud to introduce the Houston and Jeff Howenstein Panther Scholarships this year, further expanding our ability to support BVSD students,” said Katie DiMercurio, Program Director with Impact on Education. “Each scholarship represents a unique story and commitment to education, and we invite students to explore these opportunities and apply.”

Alongside these new opportunities, Impact on Education continues to manage a suite of established scholarships aimed at supporting students across a range of disciplines and educational pathways.
