  • Blake Peterson Lifetime Achievement Award

    About

Established in 2017, the Blake Peterson Lifetime Achievement Award honors the legacy of one of our most fervent supporters, Blake Peterson. This award recognizes and celebrates an individual who, consistently over the course of decades, catalyzes positive change within Boulder Valley School District, and whose own passion for education and learning mirrors that of the award’s namesake.

Blake deeply valued education and devoted his life to community service and supporting quality public education for all students.

The Blake Peterson Lifetime Achievement Award provides recognition to an outstanding life-long teacher, administrator, paraprofessional, staff or volunteer that has worked within BVSD. Award winners are viewed as leaders, mentors, problem solvers, and motivators of their peers and students, as demonstrated within the parameters of their role.

    Nominees must:

    • be a current affiliate of BVSD
    • demonstrate a commitment of significant years to BVSD students
    • demonstrate a commitment to addressing barriers to student equal opportunity and equity in BVSD

    Who can submit a nomination:

    • BVSD staff members
    • Members of the local community
  • Imogene “Jean” Maxon Early Educator Award

    About:

The Imogene “Jean” Maxon Early Educator Award is awarded annually to a BVSD educator with up to three years of classroom experience. The award is inspired and supported by Jean Maxon, a lifetime teacher whose own legacy extends beyond the BVSD classroom. Because Imogene believed in supporting educators, the award is designed to provide encouragement for classroom teaching and to remind all educators that they are valued and appreciated in our community.

Educators nominated for the award should be committed to incorporating equity into their career and finding ways to make education more accessible, engaging, and equitable.

    Nominees must:

    • Have 1-3 years of classroom experience
    • Be currently employed by BVSD
    • Hold a current Colorado teaching license
    • Be on a regular (not temporary) contract with BVSD

    Who can submit a nomination:

    • Any BVSD staff member

Impactful individuals show an ongoing commitment to professional and personal growth. They have powerful, often life-changing effects on students and/or the rest of the education community through unfaltering and purposeful effort.
