    Pay Rate: $85,000 – $105,000


    Position Description

    Impact on Education is a mission-driven non-profit organization that provides critical resources to the students and educators in Boulder Valley’s public schools. Building upon our strong Board and staff, we’re looking to add a talented and motivated professional to our staff team. The successful candidate will be a hands-on and participative manager, leading finance, administration, IT and human resources. 

    The Director of Finance and Operations will play a key role in operational strategy and partnerships, decision-making, and operations, as Impact on Education continues to enhance our work and build capacity. This full-time position is critical to our organization’s success and reports to the Executive Director. Impact on Education’s offices are located in Louisville, Colorado. Our staff works primarily in the office, but we have a flexible remote work policy.

    About Impact on Education

    Impact on Education is the foundation supporting Boulder Valley’s public schools. Since 1983, we’ve been BVSD’s support system, providing supplemental funding and resources to all 30,000 students and 4,000 educators in order to expand what’s possible in education. Today, our wide-ranging programs work to close the achievement gaps in BVSD, address economic and learning barriers that curtail success, and increase equity among all students. We focus on:

    • Preparing children for kindergarten through early learning experiences, 
    • Providing academic opportunity, supplemental instruction, and mental health support to all students
    • Preparing students for post-secondary success through college scholarships and career readiness opportunities
    • Meeting the critical needs of  students, educators and schools during normal times and times of crisis that impact our community, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the Marshall Fire

    Job Summary

    Financial Management

    • Provide overall fiscal stewardship, leading financial and accounting operations, ensuring appropriate reporting and systems are in place and maintaining effective internal controls and proper disclosures in accordance with GAAP and financial accounting standards
    • Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the Executive Director
    • Administer and review all financial plans and budgets, monitoring for progress and changes and ensuring compliance with fiscal policies and budgets
    • Implement a contracts and vendor management and reporting system
    • Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting to achieve operational and strategic goals
    • Oversee timely and effective invoicing, and accounts receivable/payable activities
    • Maintain appropriate insurance coverages for business operations 
    • Prepare monthly financials and provide accurate, timely and well-communicated information to the Executive Director, Finance Committee and Board 
    • Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the finance committee to ensure the accurate preparation and timely delivery of the annual audit and tax return and other tax filings as appropriate
    • Support donor acknowledgement process and ensure regular and consistent reconciliation with our donor management software

    Operations – Administration, Technology and Human Resources

    • Identify, create and manage appropriate systems, processes and procedures to streamline operations including program delivery, funding prospects, and evaluation
    • Research and implement solutions that improve the internal communications and operational effectiveness of the office
    • Further develop Impact on Education’s human resources and administration, enhancing professional development, compensation and benefits, performance evaluation, training, and recruiting.
    • Establish and manage a training program to educate employees regarding staff tools, policies, and procedures.
    • Work closely and transparently with external partners including third-party vendors and consultants.
    • Oversee administrative functions and manage office spaces to ensure efficient and consistent operations.

    • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
    • Working knowledge of nonprofit financial management
    • Familiarity with QuickBooks Online or similar financial software as well as technical proficiency in the Google Suite
    • Proficient knowledge and use of data management systems such as Asana, Bloomerang and other digital tools
    • Ability and interest in professional learning and growth, and desire to help Impact on Education continuously improve
    • An appreciation and passion for public education

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Management or related field preferred but not required
    • 5+ years in a finance/operations role
    • Experience managing complex projects and successfully meeting milestones and deadlines
    • Experience working in non-profits, schools or mission-driven businesses a plus

    Physical Requirements

    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Operate normal business office equipment
    • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
