    Salary: $95,000 – $115,000 annually

    About Impact on Education

    Impact on Education is a nonprofit foundation supporting 28,000 students and 4,000 educators across 56 public schools in Boulder Valley School District (BVSD). Our mission is to support Boulder Valley public school students with community funding and resources in order to meet critical needs and eliminate opportunity gaps.

    BVSD has one of the widest and most persistent opportunity gaps in the state, so we prioritize our programs and investments to serve low-income and historically marginalized students.     About the Role

    The Director of Development is a key leadership position responsible for creating and managing fundraising and community engagement strategies to support the growth and sustainability of Impact on Education. 

    We’re seeking a visionary, strategic and collaborative professional eager to lead us into a dynamic new chapter of growth. In this key role, you’ll drive our comprehensive development program, engaging and cultivating a diverse donor base through innovative and community-centric fundraising. You’ll be at the forefront of expanding our reach and deepening our impact, working alongside a dedicated team of staff, Board members, and external partners to achieve ambitious goals and shape the future of our work.

    Impact on Education’s offices are located in Louisville, Colorado. Our entire staff is in the office together on set anchor days, with some flexibility to work remotely on other days depending on the role.

    Strategy & Leadership

    • Lead and manage IOEs fundraising activities to secure financial resources from individuals, foundations, and corporations; includes raising $2.5-$3M annually and leading an active endowment campaign in collaboration with the Executive Director
    • Work closely with the Director of Finance & Operations and Executive Director to project philanthropic revenue and monitor progress to goal
    • Collect and analyze data to assess the impact and effectiveness of fundraising activities and initiatives, and identify opportunities for evolution and growth
    • Prepare regular reports for leadership team and board members
    • Manage two direct reports, providing training, guidance, and accountability
    • In partnership with the Executive Director, manage Board of Directors’ fundraising and endowment campaign committees
    • Ensure the fundraising program complies with relevant regulations and ethical standards, maintaining transparency and accountability in all activities

    Fundraising, Events, & Community Relations

    • Work closely with the Director of Marketing & Communications to grow IOE’s donor base; design strategies for meaningful prospecting and donor engagement
    • Create personalized donor engagement plans to ensure ongoing support and involvement; communicate the impact of donor contributions and maintain transparency in reporting
    • Identify, cultivate, and steward relationships with current and prospective corporate partners 
    • In coordination with the Program Director, oversee grant strategy and relationships with foundation partners
    • Develop and execute strategy for fundraising events, including sponsorships, attendees, and paddle raises; event planning and logistics are handled by the Director of Marketing & Communications
    • With IOE staff and board members, represent the organization at community events

    Desired Qualifications & Skills

    • 7+ years of professional, job-related experience including 1+ years of management experience
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute
    • Deep understanding of best practices of fundraising and knowledge of current and evolving trends in philanthropy, including major gifts, planned giving, and fundraising campaigns
    • Experience building and/or managing a fundraising campaign with a proven track record of asking for and closing gifts and building and maintaining long-term relationships
    • Expert knowledge of fundraising techniques, especially in a nonprofit environment
    • Strong interpersonal skills including written and verbal communication
    • Ability to exercise a high degree of diplomacy, discretion, and collaboration in working with a diverse range of constituents including staff, board members, donors, volunteers, community partners, and our colleagues with Boulder Valley School District
    • Proficiency with donor management software and fundraising tools
    • Familiarity with community-centric fundraising principles and equitable fundraising practices
    • Flexibility to work some limited evenings and weekends

    Software used: Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Bloomerang (donor management software), ClickBid, FundraiseUp, Asana

    Physical Requirements

    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
    • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
