Created to reduce economic barriers to academic opportunities and enrichment, this fund targets the gaps in access low-income students face both in and outside the classroom and narrows those gaps. Impact on Education annually distributes an allocated portion of a sum of $75,000 to every BVSD school to pays for expenses such as art supplies, musical instrument rentals, sports physicals, class fees, after school tutoring, graphing calculators and more. Just a sample of what we funded in 2018-2019: 2,000 students attended field trips, 107 received music or art instruction, 417 received bus passes, and over 200 received tutoring.
Due to the extraordinary circumstances facing schools and families this year, we are suspending our Opportunity Fund for the 2020-21 school year. Instead, we are launching our Student Academic Support Fund designed to meet students’ individual needs.
