Superintendent Dr. Rob Anderson recognized Impact on Education for our service to the BVSD community during the pandemic.
We awarded up to $24,000 in scholarships to three graduating high school seniors: Shannon Blanco, Maria Garcia Diaz and Rodrigo Marquez.
When he wasn’t playing basketball, Roane spent two years advising our work with BVSD. He plans to attend San Diego State University in the fall.
A queer student who grew up in a multicultural household, Maya feels connected to a lot of different communities. As the liaison to BVSD’s equity council she was a key member of our Student Advisory Board this year.
Audrey was born in West Africa and speaks fluent French. In addition to the Student Advisory Board, she is involved in many extracurricular activities that align with her core values, diversity and inclusivity.
Jasper spent three years on our Student Advisory Board and will study political science at CU Boulder in the fall.
Due to the pandemic the Student Avisory Board shifted its focus to helping the district transition online, but Abby is hopeful the next cohort will refocus on curriculum evaluation.
Noah is proud to be a part of the Student Advisory Board’s work, especially given the School Board feedback on how to remedy inequities in public education and close the opportunity gap for historically disadvantaged groups of students.
